WHAT IS A FOOD HUB?

A food hub is a business or organization that actively manages the aggregation, distribution, and marketing of course-identified food products.

Food hubs are as varied as there are needs for them, so no two look exactly alike.
The Montana Food Hub is a center for community and local food initiatives.

The initial goal is an aggregation and distribution center- what that looks like is a warehouse where people who grow food can bring it, then people and businesses who buy the food can pick it up. The sales will be done through an online marketplace.

Education is also foundational to our mission, and we plan to include teaching space as soon as possible in this timeline in order to support our members in every category. Long term, Montana Food Hub maintains an emphasis on fostering entrepreneurship and education through commercial manufacturing and production, business incubator, and educational spaces.

SELL AND SHOP ONLINE

If you are a producer who wants to focus on growing food, we want to take the rest off your hands. You go online and tell us what you want to sell. We sell it, let you know what to bring in, you drop it off, we get you paid. The goal is to keep it as simple for you as possible.

Buying food? Shop online, pick it up at the Hub.

MEET IN THE KITCHEN

Whether you are an established business, starting out, or at home and wanting to accrue new skills, we want you to meet us in the kitchen.

The Hub aims to include a commercial kitchen space for members to use, as well as incubator kitchen experiences for cooking classes in nutrition, food preservation and education.

EDUCATION ALWAYS

Education is one of the guiding principles of cooperatives around the world, and we love that. We want to connect you with the other member owners, with resources, and with great training of all kinds!

Whether it's community cooking classes learning how to use seasonal produce, or producer classes to support peer to peer learning, we want to learn in community.
